The Washington Heights Community Conservatory of Fine Arts

The Conservatory is a space to enrich the lives of children in Washington Heights, Inwood and Harlem; communities that have been historically underserved in the areas of music and art instruction. The conservatory offers an inclusive culturally sensitive environment founded on the belief that instruction in the arts strengthens academic performance and transforms the lives of children regardless of socioeconomic background.

Our main goal is to offer children with an artistic inclination the opportunity to develop their talent and pursue an artistic career in the Conservatory.

Working parallel to their school career, our students follow a rigorous eight to ten year curriculum to develop the necessary tools to pursue a musical or artistic career after high school.

Today we serve 135+ students from all over Upper Manhattan, Harlem and the Bronx

All admitted students at the Washington Heights Community Conservatory of Fine Arts are awarded a Full Scholarship and receive their education at no cost.

C.A.S.A. PROJECTS & PARTNERS

The Cultural After-School Adventures Program (CASA) is a City Council of New York initiative supported by the Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA). We currently have 2 C.A.S.A. after school programs.

The faculty at WHCCFA is composed of members of the ADCA orchestra

These programs are an extension of the work we are doing at the conservatory's main site. Students in the C.A.S.A. projects receive private instrument lessons, as well as orchestra, theory and aural skills classes.

We have partnered with Gregorio Luperon High School, P.S. 115 Alexander Humboldt, and Community Health Academy of the Heights to bring high quality artistic education, with the objective of preparing our talented local students with an artistic foundation.

Our goal is to ensure that students with artistic inclination are able to pursue a college level career in the arts, if they decide to so after High School graduation.
