Marcus is also a Senior Artist Teacher for Cuban and Haitian Percussion at his alma mater, the Hartt School of Music, where he is passionate about sharing his knowledge and expertise in Cuban drumming and religious concepts through guest lectures, university-level masterclasses, and private instruction. He has given clinics at institutions such as Connecticut PAS and the Pelham Art Center. Drawing from his extensive world music background, Marcus infuses his R&B and Pop productions with unique percussion elements. His innovative sound has caught the attention of music supervisors in the sync licensing world, resulting in placements on TV networks such as the History Channel and Discovery Channel. Marcus is well-versed in approaching and understanding the philosophies and spiritual mindset of people from different backgrounds. He believes that music is the place where these intangible ideas take form, and he strives to convey the complexities of cultural/religious concepts in an accessible manner.
Marcus Kreiger
Marcus Kreiger is a percussionist, music producer, and philosopher based in Sleepy Hollow, New York. With a Bachelor's degree in Percussion Performance from the Hartt School of Music, he has studied classical percussion as well as Cuban, Haitian, West African, Brazilian and Middle Eastern drumming traditions. As a versatile performer, Marcus has played with various ensembles, showcasing his expertise in different percussion styles. He is a regular Conga/Bata player for Regla de Ocha, providing music for Cuban religious ceremonies. He has also performed with Brazilian Samba bands, Haitian Dance classes, and many other world music groups.
